Our Goal for the New Year. A Call to Live With Compassion

compassion-deking-foundation

At DeKing Foundation, our goal for this new year is simple and deeply intentional. We exist to remind the world that compassion must remain at the center of how we live, how we lead, and how we treat one another. In a time when many hearts are tired and many voices feel unheard, compassion is not optional. It is essential.

Across Africa, compassion has always been a living value. In villages and cities alike, we see people caring for one another even in the face of hardship. We see neighbors sharing food when there is little to spare. We see communities coming together to rebuild homes after floods, conflicts, or loss. We see women supporting one another through cooperative groups and men mentoring young people to choose hope over despair. These acts may not make headlines, but they change lives every day.

During health crises across parts of Africa, volunteers have walked long distances to deliver food, medicine, and comfort to the elderly and the vulnerable. In times of displacement, families have opened their homes to strangers simply because they believed no one should suffer alone. This is compassion in action. Quiet, powerful, and deeply human.

The Bible consistently teaches us the value of compassion. In Micah chapter six verse eight, we are reminded to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. In the Gospel of Luke chapter ten, the parable of the Good Samaritan teaches us that compassion crosses boundaries and responds to need without hesitation. Jesus himself was moved with compassion when he saw the hungry, the sick, and the forgotten, and he acted.

At DeKing Foundation, these teachings guide our mission. Our goal is not only to provide support, but to inspire a way of life rooted in empathy and kindness. We believe compassion begins with seeing people as human beings first, not as problems to be solved. It grows when we listen, when we show patience, and when we choose love even when it costs us something.

This year, we call on individuals, communities, and partners to live intentionally with compassion. Speak kindly. Give generously. Stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Teach children empathy by example. Let compassion shape our decisions in homes, workplaces, churches, and public spaces.

The world does not need more division. It needs more people willing to care. At DeKing Foundation, our goal is to keep compassion alive, active, and visible. Together, we can build communities where dignity is protected, hope is restored, and humanity is honored.

This is our commitment. This is our call. This is the year to live with compassion.
