About OJEZURU OBODO
OJEZURU OBODO is a dynamic community search project that blends entertainment with social impact. It offers a platform for local talents to showcase their skills, participate in symbolic cultural-themed challenges, and be recognized and rewarded for their creativity and resilience.
Participants, mostly indigenes from each host community, engage in a “search” for symbolic items, reflecting their deep connection to tradition and their ability to think creatively and act decisively. Winners receive cash prizes and public recognition, providing both personal encouragement and collective pride.
Essence and Value to Communities
Beyond entertainment, OJEZURU OBODO addresses critical community needs. By engaging young people in meaningful, positive activities, it helps to reduce youth restiveness, discourage social vices, and promote a sense of purpose and belonging.
The project also serves as a channel for financial empowerment, offering cash rewards that support individuals and families. In doing so, it strengthens local economies and encourages entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.
Impact So Far
The journey began at Umuororonjo village in Owerri, where the event brought excitement and unity. Mr. Chigozie Usuorji emerged as the first winner, receiving a ₦30,000 cash prize — a life-changing reward that inspired many.
The second edition in Uzoagba, Ikeduru Local Government Area, drew an equally enthusiastic crowd. Mr. Victor Chikamso Ekesi stood out and was honored with a ₦30,000 prize, reinforcing the project’s core message of empowerment and community pride.
