Left Behind, But Not Forgotten; A Visit to Mary Franca Orphanage Home

Love is not just something we say. It is something we do

On Valentine’s Day, while many exchanged gifts with those closest to them, Deking Charity Foundation chose to extend love to those who have no one to call their own. We visited Mary Franca Orphanage Home in Ebikoro Umuoba, a place where children are not just homeless, but parentless.

Some were abandoned at birth. Some lost their mothers in childbirth. Some were left behind with no explanation, no family, and no one to fight for them.

Yet, when we walked through those doors, we did not see brokenness. We saw resilience. We saw the power of community. We saw children who, despite everything, still have dreams.

Some want to be doctors. Some want to be teachers. Some simply want a life where they do not have to wonder where the next meal will come from.

We came with bags of food, hygiene products, clothing, and school supplies. But more than that, we came with love. We played with them. We listened to them. We reminded them that they matter.

But one visit is not enough. One act of charity does not change a life.

These children need more than a moment of kindness. They need stability. They need a future. They need people who will not just feel sorry for them, but who will stand up for them.

At Deking Charity Foundation, we believe in more than just giving. We believe in building. We believe in sustained impact. We believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and loved—not just for a day, but for a lifetime.

To everyone reading this, ask yourself:

What if this was your child?
What if this was your little sister, your little brother?
Would you walk away?

If your answer is no, then let’s take action.

Together, we can rewrite their stories. Together, we can give them the future they deserve.
